Jayadeva
Integral Yoga Institute Founder & Director
Jayadeva began teaching yoga in 1969 and was blessed with the opportunity to have studied and lived with Sri Swami Satchidananda, the founder of Integral Yoga, at Yogaville, the Integral Yoga ashram in Buckingham, Virginia. He went on to serve as the Manager of the Integral Yoga Institute, New York City and was the Director of Integral Yoga Teacher Training there as well. He was instrumental in developing the training materials that are now used worldwide. Jayadeva brought Integral Yoga to the Princeton area over 10 years ago and has served as the Director of Integral Yoga Princeton and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the IYI Princeton. He teaches in many venues in the Princeton Area and in New York City. Jayadeva is certified to teach all levels, directs the Integral Yoga Institute Princeton Teacher Training School, and is a Registered Yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
Shanti
Manager, Integral Yoga Institute Princeton
Shanti is the Manager of the Integral Yoga Institute and a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor registered with The Yoga Alliance. The benefits she has received from the Integral Yoga program have been life changing and now she wants to give back to the IYI community. Her practice has been a key element in her ability to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Though she originally sought yoga for its health benefits, she discovered that Integral Yoga's emphasis on presenting yoga in the fuller context of Patanjali's Raja Yoga has brought benefit to every element of her life. Shanti left the corporate world when her children were born and now, in addition to teaching yoga and managing the Institute, her days are filled by volunteering in her children’s schools, gardening, cooking, swimming and walking.
Aaron Craelius
Aaron is a certified Integral Yoga Hatha instructor, a Tai Chi instructor of the Xiaojia Chen style, musician and graduate of Health Choices Massage School.
Mireille
Mireille is a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor and registered with Yoga Alliance since 2002. She has been teaching at the West Windsor Senior Center, at local health clubs and also in France. Originally self-employed in the textile industry, Mireille found equanimity, balance, joy and truthfulness in yoga. She co-founded the West Windsor Farmer's Market and remains active in community affairs. A trained Holistic Health Counselor and Reiki practitioner, Mireille enjoys exploring the healing arts and is opening a wellness center in Morocco.
Priya Lynne
Priya Lynne has been teaching yoga and meditation in the Princeton area since 2002. She is a Certified Integral Yoga instructor and is registered with Yoga Alliance . Through her yoga practice Priya Lynne has found health, joy and equanimity and finds that teaching is the true gift. She enjoys meeting each student and assisting them in their unique unfolding. She has been active in local schools by giving instruction to teachers on the benefits of yoga and how to use yoga techniques in the classroom setting. Priya Lynne is a member of the Board of Trustees for Integral Yoga Institute Princeton.
Ramdas
Ramdas is a poet, writer and kirtanist, as well as a psychotherapist, who has maintained a local private practice for more than 25 years. He has been practicing yoga for four decades, and was certified in 1973 as a yoga instructor at the Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY. Ramdas integrates yoga breathing and postures, as well as relaxation and meditation, with his psychotherapy practice. An ordained minister, Ramdas has taught hatha yoga and meditation courses at PCYH and Mercer County Community College, as well as at various YMCA’s and community centers in Westchester County and elsewhere in New York state. A certified Integral Yoga instructor, Ramdas is registered with Yoga Alliance.
Ron
Ron is a Certified Integral Yoga instructor and is registered with Yoga Alliance. He has been teaching Yoga in the Princeton area since 2002. Ron is also a certified Integral Yoga Raja instructor. He teaches an Advanced Raja yoga class at the Integral Yoga Institute New York and is one of the lead instructors for Integral Yoga Institute Princeton Teacher Training. He also serves as treasurer on the Integral Yoga Institute Board of Trustees and runs his own 401K company.
Sanela
In her classes, Sanela helps students find a sense of ease and flow, discovering ways of connecting with their inner stillness and knowing, and learning how to extend that connection into their everyday life. At 11 years old her father introduced her to yoga with a book on pranayama, concentration and meditation, which became her first guide. The relationship with yoga continued as a means and inspiration for self-inquiry and finding a deeper meaning to existence which led her to studying with some of the most wonderful teachers, Mahan Rishi Singh, Nirbhe Kaur, Hari Kaur, Jayadeva and Rev. Jaganath Carrera. She continues her exploration, not only through the regular practice of yoga and meditation, but through teaching as well. Sanela welcomes students’ insights, wisdom, questions and comments, and hopes to inspire them into exploring the depths of their own beings, both together in class and on their own.
Subhadra
Subhadra discovered yoga after the birth of her first child in 2000. She completed the Integral Yoga Teacher Training to deepen her practice and to share the experience with others. She has served on the Board of Trustees for several not-for-profit organizations and currently serves on the Roosevelt school board where her two children attend. Her other passion is storytelling, and she's been sharing stories and teaching people how to tell stories since 1991.
Vijaya
Vijaya is a certified Hatha Yoga, and Childrens Yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance. Vijaya began to practice yoga as a preventative measure to avoid diabetes and high blood pressure. Soon after beginning her practice she began to notice many positive benefits including increased energy levels, absence of asthma during allergy seasons, a healthy weight reduction and a very peaceful and calm disposition just to name a few! Having experienced the incredible benefits of yoga, Vijaya was drawn to pursue teacher training to equip herself with the expertise to share this ancient tradition with others. Inspired through teacher training she took Hatha Kids and Rainbow Kids - Yoga for Kids & Families training. Impressed with the benefits that a routine practice of yoga could provide, Vijaya began to create yoga programs catered to children. Vijaya teaches children of all ages from pre-K to teens as well as adults. Her passion is to share the joy of yoga with others, helping people to live a better quality of life with vitality, peace, and harmony.
Ambika
Ambika has been practicing yoga since 1964. She is a Certified Integral Yoga Teacher for over 9 years and registered with Yoga Alliance. Ambika has taught at the Freehold Yoga Center and most recently at the Princeton Center for Fitness and Health. In addition to her dedicated yoga practice, Ambika is a Registered Nurse and Certified Childbirth Education Specialist. She is currently employed at the University Medical Center at Princeton, working full time in Labor and Delivery. Ambika serves as Vice President on the Board of Trustees for Integral Yoga Institute.
Cindy
Cindy started teaching yoga in 2006 and became a certified Integral Yoga Instructor this past summer. Her gentle nature makes her teaching very therapeutic and meditative. She works full time in the Information Technology field and has found that yoga empowers her to deal with the stress and physical strain of sitting in front of the computer all day. Cindy teaches yoga in the Princeton area and at a Chinese school in Plainsboro where she guides the class in her native language. She also holds a medical degree from China and is registered with Yoga Alliance.
Margaret
Margaret completed the Integral Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2007 and has dedicated her time to practicing and teaching yoga. Margaret is employed full time as a elementary school teacher and has three children, three grandchildren and has recently added a basset hound puppy to the family.
Noemi
Her acting training brought Noemi to yoga in 1998. Certified as an Integral Yoga Instructor and registered with Yoga Alliance since 2003, Noemi has been teaching at IYI and using yoga techniques to support her work as an actress and playwright. She enjoys teaching yoga because it “encourages self-inquiry and self discovery—it reminds us to go within.” Noemi resides in Princeton and enjoys video production, singing, cooking, gardening and relaxing with husband Ron Cohen, another treasured instructor at IYI.
Sandhya
Sandhya began her Integral Yoga practice 7 years ago with Jayadeva in West Windsor. She found that the flow, poses, deep relaxation, and breathing practice in Integral Yoga were beautifully balanced. Wanting to deepen her practice and share the experience with others, Sandhya completed Integral Yoga teacher training in 2007. Her goal in her teaching is to create a soothing environment that allows her students to stretch body, mind, spirit and melt away tension. Sandhya is employed full time as a special education pre-school teacher.
Sunila
Sunila has been practicing yoga for three years. This past summer she became a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor and is registered with Yoga Alliance. Sunila finds that yoga gives her mental calmness, promotes physical healing and increases energy. She works in her classes to help people feel good about themselves and their bodies. Sunila chose to teach at Integral Yoga Institute because it is a community made up of so many caring individuals, where everyone is welcome to practice yoga. During the week, she works in New York City as a Director of Information Technology. In her spare time she enjoys being with her family and reading.
Swati Jahagirdar
Practicing for 15 years, Swati is a certified Integral Yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance. She teaches at various locations being notably attentive to each of her students, helping them develop in their practice. She enjoys teaching children with specific needs and introducing them to Integral Yoga to benefit them mentally, emotionally and physically for the rest of their lives. Having explored painting as a hobby since childhood, Swati now also offers painting classes to children in her home.
